The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a very common virus that is spread through intimate skin to skin contract. Most people become infected at some time during their life. Most HPV infections will resolve on their own and don’t cause any further problems. Sometimes however, they don’t get better, causing cell changes in the body that can lead to genital warts and various types of cancer in later life.

The HPV Immunisation works by causing the body’s immune system to produce antibodies against the HPV virus.

The HPV immunisations are highly effective in preventing infection from the HPV types that are most likely to cause cancer and genital warts.

This vaccine will be offered to students as part of a school based programme and we will directly contact those who fall outside of this programme.

This is a free vaccine for those within the age group.
